Welcome to Leuteaufpassen!
Leuteaufpassen...I'm not so sure it's an actual word, but, assuming so, it means "people watching" in German. Why German? A few reasons. First, my maiden name classifies my family of German descent. Second, it's the only foreign language I've had any success in learning, although I require regular practice. But the main reason I find a German translation a suitable choice for my blog title is the fact that every German person I have ever encountered has fascinated me in one way or another. Even the German woman who bought a DVD player during my brief stint as a sales associate in an electronics store; a one-time customer, but one whose mannerisms and gait I found interesting and, obviously, can still recall today. So, it seemed natural to title this blog honoring my intriguing subjects.
It is important to note, however, that this blog is not solely about my observations of individuals sharing my ancestral background. This is a platform to document my observations of every tribe, tongue, and nation as they experience the cadence of life. People are fascinating and with 6,905,216,134 people in the word (as 12:25 AM, March 12, 2011, WorldPOPClock), there are plenty of opportunities to observe a multitude of experiences. My hope is that my words can capture a glimpse of the endearing, humorous, frightening, jubilant, and beautiful sides of the people all around us.
Thank you for reading and I hope you will visit again soon.
Aufwiedersehen!
